If you have stayed in Dubai long enough, you would know that the first Sofitel was in Deira but later bought by another hotel. At present, there are already 3 Sofitel’s in a few of the most prominent Dubai locations one being in Downtown, JBR and the third one being in Palm. I have had the opportunity to visit all three, but none of the two are as big as the one on the Palm, it’s a resort which should be considered for a tranquil mini getaway.
Sofitel being a part of the Accor group of hotels already has some established hotel brands under its chain and this one being particularly more on the luxurious side made me appeased. On my arrival to this resort of Sofitel The Palm I was greeted by the courteous staff who served me some refreshments and welcome drinks, very much needed in this boiling summer of the UAE. I was surprised on seeing how busy this place was, throbbing with tourist and locals everywhere.
After my swift check-in I proceeded to my Junior Suite beach view room, a bit of a walk from the main lobby but considering the charmingly exquisite room I wouldn’t mind walking that extra distance. It has direct access to the pool, beach and a seafood restaurant called Moana. The room was gracefully done with a huge bathroom and stand-alone bathtub which is also the highlight of the suite. The suite features not only a stunning outdoor area but also a living room and a study desk which is impressive. After a good rest, I made my way to the beach to admire the beautiful sunset which shouldn’t be missed if you are around, you’ll appreciate mother nature.
This resort has pretty much everything you’ll need to unwind be it a spa, mini mart, saloon and restaurants so leaving this retreat to get back to the bustling city was the last thing on my mind.
The resort features a few restaurants Moana for seafood lovers, Porterhouse for people who fancy some steak, Bottega for their Italian food and Lua for a classic Lebanese meal. Apart from this, they have a 24/7 cafe and a buffet restaurant called Manava where you can indulge in the enormous morning breakfast but be warned it can get busy so I would advise you head there early.
As I prepare to leave my little haven in Sofitel, I cannot stop but admire the striking green lobby and the art which lights up this prominent place all in the hope that I will be back here very soon.
