Agios Nikolaos is the port town of Anafi and a bustling hub of activity. From here, you can catch a glimpse of the island’s traditional lifestyle and witness the locals going about their daily lives. Just 200 meters above the port lies Chora, the main town of Anafi. Here, you can find the Church of Agios Spyridon, as well as an array of charming shops, taverns, and cafes. Don’t miss the opportunity to hike up to the Venetian castle ruins above Chora, where you’ll be rewarded with stunning panoramic views. Two windmills scattered around the hill provide a picturesque backdrop for your photos.

Kalamos rock is a must-visit attraction on the island. Here, you can take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding sea and islands. The Chapel of Panagia Kalamiotissa, built-in 1715, can be seen atop the rock. Be sure to check out the Drakontospilon cave on the way to Kalamos rock. The Temple of Apollo Aiglitis, located near Mount Kalamos, is another historic site that shouldn’t be missed. Situated in the courtyard of the 7th-century BC, Monastery of Zoodochos Pighi, this temple is steeped in ancient mythology.

If you’re a history buff, you won’t want to miss the remains of Kastelli, located on a hill not far from Chora. Here, you can explore the ruins of the ancient city of Anafaion and marvel at the well-preserved wall, monuments, and Roman artefacts.

Anafi Island boasts an array of stunning beaches, with Klisidi being the closest to Chora. This expansive sandy beach is perfect for sunbathing and swimming. Roukounas beach is considered the best on the island, with crystal-clear waters and stunning natural scenery. If you’re looking for a more secluded beach experience, Megas Potamos is a great option. This beach is isolated, but the wild and beautiful waters make it worth the trek.

If you’re looking to cool off, take a dip in the crystal-clear waters of the island’s stunning beaches. For foodies, Anafi is a paradise. Try the local delicacies, including fresh seafood, traditional Greek dishes, and delicious pastries.

Getting to Anafi Island can be a bit of a challenge, as the ferry from Piraeus doesn’t operate daily. However, the quickest option is to take a ferry from Santorini, which takes around 30 minutes and offers a convenient and hassle-free travel experience.
