There are few things more quintessentially British than a proper afternoon tea, and when it’s set within the grandeur of one of London’s most iconic hotels, it becomes a truly unforgettable experience. Recently, I had the pleasure of indulging in afternoon tea at The Landmark London, and it was nothing short of magical.

A Grand Welcome at The Landmark
From the moment you step into The Landmark’s soaring glass atrium, you’re transported to a different world, one filled with timeless elegance, natural light streaming through palm trees, and the soothing sounds of a piano in the background. The Winter Garden, where the afternoon tea is served, is nestled at the heart of the hotel and feels like a hidden oasis in busy Marylebone.
This iconic five-star hotel has been gracing London since 1899 and is steeped in history. Originally a Victorian railway hotel, The Landmark is now celebrated for its blend of classic charm and contemporary luxury. It’s no wonder it’s a favourite spot for Londoners and travellers alike looking for a special treat.
The Afternoon Tea Experience
Presented with impeccable service and warm hospitality, the traditional afternoon tea here is a delightful journey of flavours and finesse. The tea selection is extensive, with a wide range of options including classic Earl Grey, fragrant jasmine, refreshing peppermint, and even some bespoke blends. I opted for the Darjeeling First Flush, and it paired beautifully with everything that followed.
The tiered stand arrived with a gentle flourish — beautifully arranged finger sandwiches with fillings like smoked salmon, egg and cress, and poached chicken. Each one was freshly made and delicately balanced.
Next came the homemade scones, served warm with clotted cream and strawberry preserve. Fluffy inside with a golden crust, they were absolutely perfect (yes, I did go for seconds!).
Finally, the dessert selection, delicate patisserie that looked almost too pretty to eat. There are a couple of good decadent chocolate ones which I loved.
