Ananta in Oberoi Hotel will take you back in time while you savour on some of it’s royal cuisines since each dishes recipe and name has been curated with a great amount of time spent on research. Chef Dirham Haque of Ananta has carefully come up with the most appealing menu for us and intresting flavours keep getting people back here.
On the colorful occasion of Holi I was invited here to suppress my diet and have a hearty dinner. Laid across the passage was a counter which caught my attention since all the street food which India is popular for was displayed right there. From Pani-Puri, Kochori, Pav Bhaji, Keema Pav and lastly Vada Pav. Had I known I wouldn’t have had lunch that afternoon. A bit heavy on the stomach but too hard to resist.
Next thing I know these were just a few light bites to get me started and the starters were yet to come. A meat platter with some exotic seafood and luscious meats is definitely needed if you are dining here, only thing which I could find a flaw in was the Paneer since it came across dry.
The gravies like Butter Chicken, Dal Makhani and Lamb Curry were slightly butterly but surely zestful, you wouldn’t want to leave a single morsel. Lastly the Mutton Biryani accompanied with the heavenly Raita was the show stealer, it’s a must try.
Desserts were some hot fried Jalebis, fresh Gujiyas and Rasmalai. Do I need to say being made in front of me these dishes were crisp and not being extremely sweet it did make into my list of favourites.
