Ashiana in Sheraton Creek has a new menu which offers a symphony of flavours and dishes which will leave you hungry for more. Thursday night here is slightly busier than usual as they have live singers and ‘tabla’ players who are highly entertaining. Ashiana’s head Chef Vipin‘s new menu reflects the special blends of spice and mixtures which go into making this place outstanding.
Going by the menu the dishes sound convincing, so here I decided to go for the five course Chef’s tasting menu which has some of the signature specialities and a mix of seafood, chicken, meat and vegetarian dishes.
Our pre-starter plate looks colourful, and each thing has been assembled cleverly. It has a fried Prawn, Passionfruit Shot; Mint flavoured Sphere and an Aloo Chaat. Loved the crisp flavour of the Prawns and the tanginess from the Aloo Chat but I wasn’t sure about the PassionFruit shot, it could have a slightly sharper taste.
Now for the actual starters, we are presented with a large tray which has some Galouti Kebab, Chicken Malai Seekh, and Konkani Cod. The Galouti Kebab were moist, flavourful and just as tender as it is supposed to be. Chicken Malai Seekh could have been a little more lush which would make it brilliant in taste and the Konkani Cod had a subtle juicy texture to it which was fascinating. For vegetarians they would be in for a kind surprise as the ‘Idli Chaat‘ is crunchy, sweet and with a hint of chilly it is delectable.
Most of my main course were satisfying, rich and creamy. Some of the suggestions would be to opt for the:-
•Prawn Tikka Masala – Coated in a delicate ‘marination’ the prawns are comforting, and the gravy was spot on.
•Paneer Kadhai – Soft textured paneer in a sauce infused with prominent spices add an excelling flavour to the overall dish.
•Home Style Chicken Curry – As the name suggests, this curry is just like your mother would serve you. It reminded me of my school days where I had a similar thing nearly on a daily basis.
•Nariyali Mirch Machli – Cooked in a rich coconut cream the fish taste not only good but also goes well with the Naan or Rice.
•Dal Makhani – Go on and have this dish with rice to feel the buttery and moreish flavours of the delicious ‘Dal’.
The dessert trio gets more exciting when I am served a plate full of sweet and exciting desserts. Without revealing much, it has a surprising element especially when it comes to their ‘Gulaab Cheesecake’. Don’t forget a bite of their Kulfi and Blueberry Phirnie which are decent too.
With this, I would like to let you know that during my past few visits here I never really enjoyed the dishes as I did today. Chef Vipin has come a long way, and the new and improved menu shows the creative side which confirms his brilliance in food.
